Man in the Mirror

The clan (Meagan, Pittsburgh, Btrain, Louis, and myself "Clo") decided to venture out on the town and live up our Thursday night. Driving from bar to bar we couldn't quite find a DJ that actually played some sort of normal music or at least music we could all dance too. Riding shotgun in the white lesberoo (Btrain's car) with a dip in the lip we peeled left into a desolate parking lot near one of the clubs we were about to explore. Without hesitation Btrain ran out of the car trying to find a bathroom with the car still running, music still pumpin. As we sat there dazed, Michael Jackson came on. Our faces lite up and we all looked at each other and got out of the car. Turning up the song, we all started to sing the catchy lyrics of Man in the Mirror. Not only were we singing we were projecting our voices and letting our bodies move to the beat of this profound song. Car doors open and music loud enough for the town to hear, we were living in the moment. We had not a care in the world dancing and singing - making Michael Jackson proud and feeling the love of our friendships with each other. Looking at Meagan fly around and Lu gliding across the pavement; Pittsburgh flopping, Btrain smiling and myself clapping and screaming "whoooo" even when Michael wasn't was one of the most free moments I have ever felt in my life. When the song ended we replayed it and kept dancing. A minute later another car pulled up and 4 girls and 2 guys hopped out and without question began to dance throwing their hands up in the air and joining our contagious circle of creative dance. No one left that moment; minds weren't wondering and no one was on their phone. We left an impression on not only those random 6 ppl who joined our "moment" but ourselves and one I will never forget.

Now everytime I hear Man in the Mirror I smile, cheese, sometimes even laugh out loud thinking back to that Thursday in early August.

I encourage you to live in the moment, because that just may be the best moment of your life!

The Inapporpriate 3 Year Old

We all went to Brandi's Championship Slowpitch Softball Game on Wednesday. A sure shot to win the gold, Brandi's team hadn't lost a game since 2007. Caren and I set up the lawn chairs on the grassy hill behind the backstop, a great place to watch the B-Train steam roll the competition. Brandi wasn't in the line up for some dumb reason, but simply the EH (Extra Hitter). As the girl who took B's spot in left center continuously let balls drop and runs score, my attention was drawn to a small boy. My guess, three years old. He was all over his mom, tugging her hair, rubbing his hands on her face, pouting and whining. Why shouldn't he, everytime he did, his mother gave him a kiss. There are a lot of bad parenting techniques in use today, but I digress. What followed was easily one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. As the little boy stood behind his mom, he started tugging at his shorts. Thinking he must have an itch near his hip flexor I didn't think anything of it, that is until the shorts started coming down. With every forceful itch like tug more and more skin was revealed. It wasn't long and his little penis popped out. Like a train wreck my eyes were glued. I couldn't even speak, I wanted to nudge Caren but was frozen, eyes locked on this tiny protrution. As my jaw dropped into my lap, the little boy proceeded to relieve himself directly behind his mother's back. As a short stream of urin arched through the warm night air, his mother overheard the watery substance hitting the grass, earily close to her hand. Double take. You can imagine my face at this point, eyes bugged out, jaw in lap, and hands gripping my lawn chair as a huge smile sweeps over my face. "Woah, what are you doing?!! You need to tell Mommy when you need to pee! I'll take you behind a tree or something!" Either the little boy was done or the pee was jolted back inside after the sudden outburst by his mom. Without saying a word, he yanked up his shorts. At this point I am in tears laughing my ass off, trying to hide my face in my shirt. Thankfully, Caren saw the whole thing. We laughed and laughed for about ten minutes. Although Brandi didn't get any action, we did!

Oh, and by the way, Brandi's team lost the Championship game. Maybe you should have played her since she's YOUR BEST PLAYER! Idiots.

LJ

Caren, Brandi, and I all took a trip to Boston last weekend. For some unforeseen reason Caren peered deep in my eyes and said, "Lu, you're gonna meet and LJ tonight." (Now, fast forward about five hours) I am dancing at the club and a girl approaches me and mentions something about my dancing skills. She introduces herself as Lauren. Without taking note of her first initial, I introduce myself and my friends. Without a hesitation, Caren asks Lauren's last name. "Joublet." "Lu, Lu...she's an LJ!" I nearly died.

The Crew

Hi, My name is Linnea, but you can call me Lu. My friends and I have started this blog to imortalize our experiences here at Maine. Meet my friends: Brandi (AKA The B-Train), Caren (nick-name TBD). The three of us have a special bond, we all work in the same hallway. We eat, workout, drink, and play together. This is our life, crazy though it may be. True life--DaHallway.
